Terms of Service

Overview

The Neurotype Assessment ("the Service") is operated by the Neurotype Project, an independent research initiative, at neurotypetest.com. By using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

The Assessment

The Neurotype Assessment maps cognitive tendencies across six biological dimensions. It is an exploratory framework informed by published neuroscience research. It is not a validated diagnostic instrument and does not diagnose any medical or psychological condition.

Results reflect your self-reported responses under current conditions. They may vary based on mood, context, and life circumstances. They are not medical advice, clinical assessments, or psychological evaluations. If you are experiencing distress or believe you may have a clinical condition, please consult a qualified healthcare professional.

You acknowledge that you use assessment results at your own discretion and that the Neurotype Project makes no claims about the clinical validity, accuracy, or completeness of the assessment or its results.

Accounts

You may take the assessment without creating an account. Creating an account (via email magic link or Google OAuth) is required to save results, compare with others, and purchase the Full Report.

You are responsible for maintaining access to the email address associated with your account and for all activity that occurs under your account.

Purchases and Refunds

The Neurotype Full Report is a one-time purchase of $9 USD. There are no subscriptions or recurring charges. Payments are processed by Stripe.

Compare is free for all logged-in users. Premium compare content (friction maps, communication guide, blind spots) requires both participants to own the Full Report.

Refund policy: As a digital product delivered immediately upon purchase, all sales are generally final. If you believe a purchase was made in error (e.g., accidental duplicate purchase), contact [email protected] and we will review your case. Approved refunds will revoke access to premium content.

Validation Questions and Research

After the core assessment, we ask voluntary demographic and diagnostic questions (self-identification, diagnoses, sex assigned at birth, pronouns, age range). Every question includes a "Prefer not to say" or equivalent opt-out.

By answering these questions, you consent to the use of your anonymized, de-identified responses for research purposes, including:

  • Statistical analysis to validate and improve the assessment
  • Publication of anonymized, aggregated findings
  • Sharing of fully anonymized datasets with other researchers

No individual-level data is ever published or shared. All research outputs use aggregate statistics or fully de-identified data. See our Privacy Policy for details on how this data is stored and protected.

Content Ownership

The assessment questions, dimension framework, profile descriptions, and premium content blocks are proprietary to the Neurotype Project. You may share your personal results via share link or downloaded image. You may not reproduce, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from our content.

Your quiz responses and resulting scores belong to you. You can export your data at any time from your dashboard. By using the Service, you grant the Neurotype Project a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to use your anonymized, de-identified quiz responses and validation data for research, analysis, and service improvement.

Comparisons

Comparisons link two user accounts. By participating in a comparison, you consent to your quiz scores, dimensional results, and neurotype profile being visible to the other participant. Either participant can leave a comparison at any time, which removes it for both people. Deleting your account deletes all comparisons you are part of.

Pending comparison invites expire after 30 days.

Account Deletion

You can delete your account from your dashboard at any time. Account deletion permanently and irreversibly removes: all quiz results, all validation responses, all comparisons, all purchase records, your profile, your authentication data, and your email from our mailing list. This cannot be undone.

Prohibited Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to diagnose, treat, or make clinical decisions about yourself or others
  • Use assessment results in employment, admissions, insurance, or other consequential decisions about others
  • Scrape, crawl, or bulk-download content from the Service
  • Create accounts for the purpose of spamming comparison invites
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' data or accounts
  • Use the Service in any way that violates applicable law

Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account, without prior notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these terms or are using the Service in a way that could harm other users or the integrity of the Service. You may terminate your account at any time by deleting it from your dashboard.

Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY. WE SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIM ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, OR THAT ANY RESULTS OR INSIGHTS PROVIDED BY THE ASSESSMENT WILL BE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR USEFUL FOR ANY PURPOSE.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE NEUROTYPE PROJECT SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU HAVE PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR $9 USD, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

You acknowledge that the assessment is for personal insight and self-understanding, not clinical use, and that we are not liable for any decisions you make based on your results.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Neurotype Project from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these terms, or your use of assessment results in ways that cause harm to yourself or others.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved in the courts of the State of Georgia.

Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates the most recent revision.

Severability

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

Entire Agreement

These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and the Neurotype Project regarding your use of the Service.
